Beth Anne Katz is an analytic and passionate technical program manager at Amazon, with over a decade of experience delivering complex products at global scale. Prior to Amazon, Beth Anne worked at Microsoft where she released innovative products and features across Windows and Office, including working on Microsoft's fastest-growing product, Microsoft Teams, while working out of its Prague office.
Alongside product management, Beth Anne is a fierce advocate for mental health awareness and reducing the mental health stigma. Her journey started in 2016 when she publicly shared her mental illness diagnosis and her decision to start taking antidepressants on YouTube. She then opened up broadly to Microsoft about her diagnosis in an article that quickly gained immense popularity. It is now one of the most-shared Microsoft employee stories ever. Since then, her advocacy has been featured globally in publications including The New York Times and Reuters. Beth Anne also served as one of Microsoft's global neurodiversity leads and founded and led the Microsoft California Disability employee resource group.
In 2019, she formalized her advocacy as an organization with a mission to use content creation to combat the mental health stigma. Today she continues to make mental health-themed YouTube videos, a regular comic series, and a podcast available on over eight platforms including Spotify and Apple podcasts.
Beth Anne additionally speaks regularly on mental health. In 2020 she combined her interests of mental health and product management into a presentation called How to Product Manage Your Mental Health. This presentation has now been delivered in multiple countries to audiences with over 200 people in attendance. In July 2020, this presentation was recognized as best learning session with a "Global Learning Champion" award at Microsoft's Office-wide hackathon.
Beth Anne has been honored with numerous awards for her work, including being named as the National Alliance on Mental Illness' Community Champion in 2018 and one of the Society of Women Engineers' Top 10 Women Engineers You Should Know in 2020. She has also been named a Mental Health Champion by Arianna Huffington's Thrive Global and Authority Magazine. In 2021, she was recognized as one of the 100 most influential women in Silicon Valley by the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
Outside of work, Beth Anne stays driven and inspired post-diagnosis with an active bucket list. So far she accomplished impressive feats including running the Boston marathon, completing a sprint distance triathlon, living abroad, and traveling to over 30 countries.
Beth Anne graduated from the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University with double majors in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Hispanic Studies. There, she was awarded numerous scholarships from companies including Boeing, Xerox, and NASA. She has held internships at Goldman Sachs, Disney, Google, and Microsoft.
